TRANSITION AREA
Transition area opens at 8.00am and will close at 12.00 pm as the first wave starts at 1.00pm. Familiarise yourself with the location of your bike and the entry/exit points to transition.

No competitor will be accepted after 12.00pm Saturday and we cannot be responsible for you arriving late so allow for mishaps when making travel arrangements.  

REGISTRATION
Individual Registrations and Team Registrations will be located separately in the Surf Club hall.

You will receive at Registration:

- 1 bike sticker (to be wrapped around bike seat stem so that your number is shown on the left and right side of your bike. Numbers need to point to the back of the bike.
- 1 helmet sticker (to be attached to the front of your helmet)
- 1 timing band (to be attached to your left ankle prior to swim start. Remember – no band – no time)
- 1 swim cap
- Sponsor bag/race pack

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITORS
Please line up in the queue according to your Surname. At the registration table you will be asked for your Surname first and then confirmed with your Christian name. The attendant will supply you with 2 stickers, one to attach to your bike and one to attach to your helmet. This sticker will allow you to take your bike into the transition area and more importantly to take your bike out of transition after the Triathlon has finished. NO STICKER, NO BIKE!

CHANGES TO ENTRY
Changes can be made to your race entry at the “Information Desk” located in the Registration area.

RACE NUMBERING
After you have registered and have your bike sticker, helmet sticker, timing band and race pack, proceed to the scribe, which is located outside the registration hall to have your body number put on. Please tell the scribe whether you will wear bike pants or a t/shirt so they can number you appropriately. No body numbers, no admittance into the transition area. Your race number will be placed on both arms. It is your responsibility to ensure the numbers written on your body are the same as your timing band and your bike sticker and helmet sticker.

RACE SINGLETS
Each competitor entering the Byron Bay Triathlon is to wear a race singlet. Your official Byron Bay Triathlon singlet is not compulsory but we do appreciate you wearing it to support our sponsors. You will receive your size in which you ordered.

BAGGAGE AREA
There will be a baggage area in the transition area, however no responsibility for loss or damage to bags left in this area is taken by the Race Organisers. DO NOT leave valuables in your bags.BIKE RACKS

All bike racks will be numbered. Please note the number of your bike and remember that getting your bike into and out of the transition area will require the appropriate bike sticker. NO STICKER, NO BIKE!

TIMING
You timing band must be placed on your left ankle.
You must wear the transponder at all times during the race.
You must cross the mats at all timing locations to receive an official race time.
The transponder must be handed in immediately after crossing the finish line.
If you don’t race or fail to complete the course, please return timing band to the collectors at the finish line.
Any transponders that are not returned will result in a $50 replacement fee charged to the athlete.
Transponders are non-transferable. Do not switch transponders with other competitors.
Do not walk over timing mats prior to the race, as this will set off your race time.

If you withdraw from the race please inform the Information Centre and return your timing band. 

WAVE STARTS
All competitors will receive their swim cap in their race kit. Please check that your swim cap colour reflects the colour of your wave start. Final wave details will be provided with Race Briefing which will be given to all competitors at Registration. 

WETSUIT RULING
On Saturday a provisional water temperature will be posted on the information boards in the registration area, final wetsuit ruling will be announced early Saturday morning.

TEAM INFORMATION
A team swimmer must not remove the timing band until within the transition area.

Team cyclists must stay in allocated race position with seat over the rail until swimmer has tagged the cyclist. Swimmer needs to pass the timing band onto the CYCLIST.

Team cyclists must rack bike before runner can leave on run leg.
Team runners must wait in team cyclists bike rack position, remember to take the timing band off the cyclist before exiting transition.

If you have problems of any kind, please proceed to the INFORMATION DESK located at registration.

PRESENTATION
Presentation will take place at 7.00pm at the “The Great Northern Hotel” in the “backroom”.

PLEASE NOTE: Category winners: If you are unable to stay for the presentation and have placed in your category, you must contact the Race Director within 2 weeks of the event to arrange for collection of your prize. Alternatively, you may arrange for your prize to be sent for a surcharge. Results will be posted at www.byronbaytri.com  in the week following.

RACE RULES
The race will be under Triathlon Australia race rules.
Cycling helmets are to be fastened before removing bike from the rack and remain fastened until bike is racked.
No Drafting.
No blocking (keep to the left as far as possible to enable passing). Remember passing on the inside is illegal and can result in disqualification of the athlete.
Do not cross centre lines on cycle course, this is instant disqualification.
Offenders will be required to serve a time penalty in a penalty box on the course. Failure to report to a penalty box to serve the time penalty will result in immediate disqualification.
No cheating, no cutting corners.
Roads are open to local traffic, please apply road rules.
Males – upper body chest must be covered at all times during the cycle and run legs.
Bike security sticker needs to match the race number on your arm in order to remove your bike.
Competitors must obey all directions and instructions given by event officials, emergency services and police.
Familiarise yourself with the course – information and maps are at the Registration area.

ROAD CLOSURES
Roads are open to local traffic, there are area’s of road closures covering the designated cycle course which will be implemented for the duration of the event (6.00am – 5.00pm Saturday 10/05/2008). There will be some vehicles on the course – event personnel and local access traffic. Normal road rules apply. Please ensure the safety of yourself and other competitors at all times.

RACE RESULTS
Provisional race results will be posted on the website; www.byronbaytri.com the week following the event.
