OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRIATHLON – 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run
SWIM
The swim leg is an ocean swim.
Competitors are to keep the swim start area clear, Swim warm-up if required must take place outside the swim start area, or off to the left or right of the swim course. Competitors in starting wave to line up on start line. All competitors to be at the swim marshalling area by 1pm. You must follow the swim buoys precisely. Any short cuts will mean disqualification. Follow all directions of surf lifesaving officials. Ensure timing band is firmly secured on your ANKLE.
All team swimmers will be able to finish the swim and make their way to the Teams transition Area and hand the timing bank to the team cyclist.
CYCLE LEG :
Out and back course from main beach transition area to Lennox Head on the Byron Bay/Lennox Head coastal road (road still open to traffic).
To ensure an even race for all competitors you must rack your bike in your correct signed age group rack.
NO DRAFTING - NSW Triathlon Australia officials will be on the course and penalty boxes will be in use.
Extreme care must be taken at all times. All road rules must be obeyed at all times, police are on the course and will book anyone breaking the law.
Drink plenty of water in preparation for the run leg and upper torso must be covered at all times.
RUN LEG
4 times out and back course,around the turnaround point, please remember to use aid station at each pass.
