The official entry form must be completed and each competitor must agree to the “CONDITIONS OF ENTRY”. Completion of the entry process and payment of the entry fee represents acceptance of the entry conditions.

FIELD LIMIT: Byron Bay Triathlon has a STRICT FIELD LIMIT. Closing dates are indicative only. As entries may close earlier if this field limit is reached before the closing date.

Location:         Byron Bay Surf Club, Bay Street, Byron Bay
Distance: Individuals & Teams – 1.5km swim   -   40km cycle   -   10km run
Course:      
  Swim: 1.5km (Ocean Swim)
  Cycle:40km  (Undulating out and back course on the Byron to Lennox Coast Road)
  Run: 10km  (4 laps out and back course)
Minimum Ages:    Individual competitors must be a minimum of 16 years old as at 31/12/2009. Team Competitors must be a minimum of 14 years old as at 31/12/2009.
Entries Close:

Friday 30 April, 2010 5pm
Strict Field limits apply, this is for the safety of all participants.

Elite:          

Elite athletes require a Professional Triathlon licence.

Age Group:   No qualification required, Age as at 31st December, 2009.
Age Group Category:   

Age taken as at 31 December, 2009.

Team Changes: Any team wishing to replace a team member or change the order of competitors, must complete a Byron Bay Triathlon entry form with the details of the new team member  and attach details of the change to be made and forward to Byron Bay Tri, PO Box 579 Byron Bay NSW 2481.
International Competitors:

International competitors must ensure they have sufficient personal insurance in place to cover any medical expenses that may potentially arise from participants in the 2010 Byron Bay Triathlon.

  1. The Byron Bay Triathlon swim leg is held in the open sea (known as an Ocean Swim). If for whatever reason the swim leg is deemed to be too dangerous the management of the event may postpone start or cancel the swim leg. If cancelled, the event will be a duathlon and there will be no refunds.

  2. Triathlon Australia race rules apply and will be those published as at race day. Competitors will be advised of any event-specific race rules prior to race day. www.triathlon.org.au

  3. Age categories will apply to both men and women as follows: 16-19;20-24;25-29;30-34;35-39;40-44,45-49;50-54;55-59;60-64;65-69;70+ years.

  4. I am fully responsible for the security of my personal possessions at the event.

  5. I acknowledge that competitive triathlon involves the real risk of serious injury or even death from various causes including over exertion, on and off course accidents, accidents with other competitors, equipment failure, other road users, spectators, course conditions and weather conditions.

  6. I understand that I should not compete in this event unless I have trained the necessary amount and my medical practitioner has verified my physical condition.

  7. By entering this event and competing, I accept all risks associated from my participation that could result in loss of life or permanent injury. Accordingly I release all people associated with the conduct of this event from, and will indemnify them against all liability (including liability for their negligence) for all injury, loss, damage arising out of or connected with my participation in this event. The people released include, but are not limited to event organisers, promoters, Byron Bay Triathlon, Byron Bay Tri, Byron Bay Council and all its representatives, Ballina Council, New South Wales Police, Byron Bay Surf Club, Event Sponsors and supporters, contracted companies and all public authorities, Triathlon Australia Limited, Triathlon NSW, their members and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers including medical and paramedical staff. This release and indemnity continues forever and binds my heirs, executors and personal representatives.

  8. I consent to receive any medical treatment the event medical teams believes appropriate in the circumstances before, during or after the event.

  9. I understand that the compulsory insurance cover for participants in this event may not cover me for all injury, loss or damage sustained by me.

  10. I understand that safety precautions undertaken at the event by organisers (such as course supervision, race safety briefings, bicycle and helmet safety checks) are a service to me but are not a guarantee of safety.

  11. I will provide event organisers all details of my past and present medical or physical conditions that may affect my performance or be relevant if medical treatment is necessary.

  12. I consent to event organisers using my name, image and likeness, before, during or after the event for event promotional broadcasting or reporting purposes in any media.
